The Sunday Reset: How to Win the Week Before It Starts
Winners don't stumble into Monday. They engineer it on Sunday. Here's the reset routine that sets up 7 days of success.
Why Sundays Matter
Most people spend Sunday dreading Monday. Then they rush into the week reactive, unprepared, and already behind.
High performers do the opposite. They use Sunday to set up the week. By Monday morning, they've already won.
The Sunday Reset Framework
Part 1: Review (30 minutes)
What went well last week?
List 3 wins. Celebrate them. This isn't bragging—it's building confidence.
What didn't go well?
List 3 areas for improvement. No shame. Just data.
What did I learn?
Synthesize the week's lessons. What will you carry forward?
Check your stats:
If you're using Ascender, review your progress. See what leveled up. Identify what needs attention.
Part 2: Plan (30 minutes)
Define the week's outcomes:
Not tasks—outcomes. What will be TRUE by next Sunday?
Limit to 3-5. More than that guarantees nothing gets done well.
Break outcomes into actions:
Each outcome needs specific next actions. Put them on specific days.
Identify the ONE thing:
If you could only accomplish one thing this week, what would it be? That's your priority. Protect it.
Schedule the hard stuff:
Block time for your most important work. Tuesday at 2 PM isn't "maybe I'll work on the project." It's "PROJECT: 2 PM - 4 PM. Non-negotiable."
Part 3: Prepare (30 minutes)
Prep your environment:
- Lay out Monday's clothes
- Prepare breakfast ingredients
- Clean your workspace
- Charge devices
- Set up your focus tools
Prep your mind:
- Review tomorrow's schedule
- Visualize executing your morning routine
- Write tomorrow's to-do list (so your brain can rest)
Prep your body:
- Get to bed on time
- No screens in the last hour
- Wind down properly
The Sunday Don'ts
Don't overschedule:
Leave buffer time. Weeks never go perfectly. Plan for reality.
Don't work all day:
The reset takes 90 minutes, not 8 hours. Protect your rest.
Don't plan in your head:
Write it down. Digital or physical. But externalized, not mental.
Don't skip the review:
Planning without reviewing is just dreaming. Learn from last week first.
The Compound Effect
One good Sunday = one good week.
52 good Sundays = one good year.
Years of good Sundays = a transformed life.
The reset ritual seems small. But compounded, it's everything.
Your Sunday Task
This Sunday, block 90 minutes. Run the reset:
- Review last week (30 min)
- Plan this week (30 min)
- Prepare for Monday (30 min)
Do it once. See how Monday feels different.
Then never go back.
Sundays aren't for dreading. They're for dominating.
Own your week before it starts.
